One of the vital concerns during a duel is getting enough of the right type of land into play to generate the mana you need to cast your spells
For each mulligan a player takes, their opponent can choose to draw a card
The key features of Auras were: Could be attached to any permanent or player it specified (with the Enchant X rules text) Couldnt be moved or removed from that permanent or player once placed Went to the graveyard if the permanent it enchanted changed zones They played in fun spaces with these early years, making things like blessings and curses and strange mind magicks A lot of blue enchantments that dealt damage Weird times
If you play a flexible deck looking for a toolbox of answers, grabbing all three transmute cards at 2 or 3 mana value and then sifting your deck to prioritize those mana costs when there are choices to be made for certain slots is a good way to get more of what you want in your hand
